So here I am in Boston, ready to attend PAX tomorrow and through Sunday! But although the convention hasn't started yet, I am already having a balls out fun time. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel, considering it's within throwing distance of the Boston Convention Center (which is where PAX will be.). Nerds and gamers like myself will be piling in by the truck load over the next few days, with somewhere around sixty thousand people signed up for the event.
That's me looking at the convention center from just out side my hotel.
I was able to walk over to the convention center and poke around a bit, just to try and get a feel for things. I tried to get a picture of the main level while all of the booths were being set up, but the stupid security guard told me no. But even without the aid of the picture, I can tell you that it looked awesome. Perhaps one of the half constructed booths I spotted that excited me the most was the Star Wars The Old Republic booth. I had been under the impression that Bioware wasn't even going to be at this event (which made me very sad), but it looks like I was wrong. Being wrong isn't always a bad thing you know!
Hanging the sings.
The convention center is massive, but I suppose it has to be if they are going to cram sixty thousand people inside of it. I was able to get a couple snap shots of the awesome Bioshock Infinite display that is in the main entrance hall, so that is something. But I am sure that if grump security guard man had his way, he would have made me delete that one as well. If you want to see more, you will just have to wait like the rest of us for tomorrow's grand activities. So far I have met some great people, and even got to learn the ropes at a new card game: “Citadels.” Unfortunately, I was not the victor of the game, but at least I came in second place. Not bad for my first try, eh?
Playing Citadels in the hotel lobby.
I have everything set up in my hotel room so I can continue to make posts for you whenever I have enough free time available. I brought my flip video camera and voice recorder which I will be carrying with me at the show. This means that aside from the articles I normally post, I will also be trying to post some videos and what not. The video's will most likely be riddled with background noise and people walking in front of me. But like I said, I will do my best.
Can you say: "Awesome!"?
But hey, even if the videos don't come out so great, I will be posting tons of pictures and typing up as many articles as I can manage. I say this, but I know I am going to be extremely busy. So we shall see. Sorry I don't have more news for you, but the convention hasn't started yet. But keep an eye out! I am so excited I can hardly sit still. To any PAX goer's reading this, I will see you there!
